    什么是民国气息?

    三焦

      见识白蕉的书法是很久以前的事了。在金华念大学时,好友林建光经常临习沈尹默的字贴,通过了解沈尹默,也便知道白蕉了。民国时期的上海,人们一拨一拨的,同一圈子的人艺气相投,字也写得差不多,白蕉、沈尹默、任政三人往来频繁,字的风格也比较接近,三人中我觉得白蕉的天分最高。以前家父曾在上海住过一段时间,与书家任政先生友善,因此家里有多张任老先生的字,但我总觉得任老先生的字相对规整了些,技巧是纯熟了,但心情却没有在字上。沙孟海曾称赞白蕉说:“行草相间,寝馈山阴,深见功夫。造次颠沛,驰不失范。三百年来能为此者寥寥数人”,语气虽有些夸张,但倒是和民国人的胸怀是吻合的。
      从一些民国电影中,比如《马路天使》,比如《十字街头》,我们不难看到那时的文化人尽管手头比现在的文化人拮据得多,拮据到连亭子间的房租都交不起,但骨子里的一股正气尚在。民国人的文章中也常有种顶天立地的气概。
      白蕉他们写的字,继承的是王羲之、苏东坡一路,这在民国世界来说,实际也是一种反叛,因为清朝的崇碑风气很浓,字里行间锋芒毕露,有一种外在的嚣张。但白蕉他们走是却是“贴”的路子,将毛笔的性能重新纳入到中锋运笔、万毫齐力的境界,表面上看,有一种风姿卓越的高贵,但笔画之中却透着铮铮铁骨。

      这幅网上出现的白蕉书法,韵味很足,写得也体贴顺畅,但一见之下总觉得缺少了什么。随手一查,竟查到这幅字的另一个版本:

    thumbnail_400_400 (下面这个信封显然是伪作)

      于是真相大白。上面那幅字显然是今人所临习,与原作相比,软弱之意呈现无遗。不过这做假水平,还是相当高超的。
      民国的气象,比之唐宋,已经相差十万八千里,而今人的气息,比之民国,又不知要差多少了。
